Sure to be a heartwarming tearjerker of immense proportions, Wonder hits theaters November, 17th, 2017.
Based on the bestselling book of the same name by RJ Palacio, Wonder chronicles the first year of mainstream school (5th grade) of a young boy named August “Auggie” Pullman (Jacob Tremblay). Throughout his life, he has had facial differences that have plagued him medically, requiring 27 surgeries to help him see, hear without a hearing aid, and even breathe.
The trailer shows just some of the many challenges Auggie has to confront with his differences such as making friends and combatting bullies. Soon we see that Auggie isn’t going to take things lying down and chooses to tackle his problems head-on with warmth, love, and humor. With his naturally beautiful spirit and the support of his family (played by Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson as his mother and father, respectively), we find that Auggie can’t “blend in” since he was born to stand out.
This inspiring story of one 10 year old boy’s struggle and overcoming of adversity is sure to be a favorite for both the young and old.
